16 Weeks

No new pictures to post of baby so you'll just have to settle for one of us.  I went in for my 16 week appointment today and the doctor said everything still sounds great!  We were able to listen to the heartbeat and once again could hear baby moving around like crazy in there.  Can't wait until Chris and I are actually able to feel some of these kicks!!

We have just finished up a master bath renovation at the Heath House and I am very anxious to get started on the baby's room now!  First task is getting everything out of the room (which is currently a guest room/extra storage for Chris & I's clothes).  This involves us (let's be honest - mainly me) going through all of our clothes and getting rid of the stuff we don't wear anymore so that the clothes in baby's closet can be moved into our room!  It will also involve some crafty organization (my specialty) and then some of Chris's lovely handiwork.  We are heading to Colorado to visit some friends and then I'll be in Atlanta for work, so hopefully we can get started on this once I get home!  Once we start making progress on the room we will be sure to post pictures!

12 Weeks

Here is our first look at 'lil Heathbar!!  This first one is my favorite - you can see the little arm up by baby's face, and then the bend in the knee towards the right side of the picture.

Without warning, the ultrasound technician switched to a 3D picture which gave us a very crazy view of 'lil Heathbar.  I will say that at this point, facial features are still moving around and forming so it is probably not our best idea of what baby will actually look like in June, but was still neat to see.  You can see the arm is still up by baby's face (it kind of blends in to the cheekbone).

'Lil Heathbar was super active throughout the entire ultrasound.  We were able to see the baby kicking its legs throughout the entire appointment.  In fact - the baby started out the appointment by laying on its belly.  The tech kept trying to get baby to flip over because it has to be laying on its back in order for them to get all of the measurements that they need.  Baby wasn't cooperating so the tech had me get up, go to the bathroom, and move around in hopes of getting baby to flip over.  I laid back down, and still no luck.  Then, as soon as the tech started to talk about having me come back in next week so we could try again - we were able to see 'lil Heathbar do a somersault and land on its back.  Just shows that our baby already has an attitude and wants to do things on his/her own time (not to mention I think that shows we have a future gymnast on our hands!)

Other stats from the appointment: heart rate was 174 (like I said before - we have a very active baby on our hands!), and all tests came back normal!  Two very happy soon-to-be parents walked out of that appointment - we were so excited to finally get to see our baby!!

We're Expecting!

Most of you have probably already heard from our Christmas cards, via Facebook, or straight from us, but we are so so excited to announce that we are expecting!  Our first 'lil Heathbar is due June 21st, so we are very excited for our summer baby to get here.  We have lots of friends and family with birthdays around this time, so maybe someone will be the lucky winner to get an extra special birthday present from us this year. ;-)

We have never blogged before, so I am hoping we can update this fairly regularly to let everyone know how the pregnancy is progressing.  And then of course we will continue to post with pictures of the baby once he/she makes an appearance (which, let's face it, will be much cuter then any pictures of the two of us!).  Hopefully this will be a way for those of you who still haven't made it on to facebook (which I am typically fairly good at updating) to see recent pictures of the baby and also hear how everything is going with our expanding family.

To answer some of the more common questions I have been getting ....
**I am currently 16 weeks along, which puts me in my second trimester.  Thankfully I am out of the first trimester which was full of some pretty bad nausea and a very tired Ellie who required lots of naps.
**Yes, we are definitely going to find out whether we are having a boy or a girl. (I am WAY too much of a planner to wait and be surprised!)  We should be able to find this out towards the end of January/beginning of February, and have a fun way to reveal the sex to everyone (stay tuned for more information!)
**No, we haven't picked out any names yet.  We have thrown some around here and there, but haven't seriously discussed anything yet.  And we are planning on keeping our name choices a surprise until we can meet 'lil Heathbar and make sure the name fits, so everyone will just have to wait until June to find out what we decide!

Comment with any other questions you may have for Chris or I and we will do our best to answer.  Hope everyone enjoys the blog!
